damn, I edited my post too late. My confusion goes to when you decide to stop with formality and drop suffixes. As in, are there rules to when you can act informal or formal?

I remember in chinese there are rules, like you can never call your big brother by name in his presence, but only say big brother, whereas you can call your younger brother by his name. Can such formality be dropped? and just call your big brother by name?

Yea there are rules. It's just about if you call him big brother in a formal way or not. One usually never adresses an older sibling by name.

The only typo was the second g in gengidesuka. It should be genkidesuka? Replace g for k and you're fine. :)

What do you want to learn? I'm not exactly the best teacher around but I'll give it a shot. I can only type in english during the weekdays(using psp). I can type in japanese on the weekends.
